Case Submissions

Case Criteria – Missing Adults

Ontario's Missing Adults accepts cases detailing missing adults who meet each of the following criteria:

are 18 years or older at the time of the disappearance
have a report filed with law enforcement
family member has been out of contact for a period of three months or longer
the person disappeared from or in Ontario.

Exceptions in Missing Adult criteria

Exceptions can be made to the general guidelines. However, these are made on a case-by-case basis. If the case cannot be added to Ontario's Missing Adults, suggestions will be made to ensure that your loved one's case receives as much attention as possible. If you wish to have a case added but are unsure if it falls within the general guidelines, please contact Familyrequest@missingadults.ca.

Case Criteria – Unidentified Adults

Ontario's Missing Adults accepts information about unidentified adults, provided that case details are submitted by Law Enforcement or by the Coroner's office. Cases will be added regardless of the estimated date of death. The website includes cases of those whose unidentified remains have been found in Ontario or where there is strong evidence to suggest that the person had ties to Ontario.

Wherever possible, images of facial reconstructions will be included in case details. Where a reconstruction is unavailable, images of any clothing or personal items will be used. Ontario's Missing Adults also accepts cases where images are unavailable, provided that enough descriptive information is available.

Cases will be added provided that the estimated age range allows for the unidentified person to have reached the age of 18 or older.

Graphic post mortem photographs will not be added to Ontario's Missing Adults. However, a link will be provided so that those wishing to view post mortem photos will be able to visit the originating information source.
