William was seen operating a large boat at approximately 5:30 p.m. on the day of his disappearance.  The boat left Port Rowan and headed out to the north channel.  This route leads into Lake Erie.

The boat is described as a 1977 Bertram hardtop cruiser with a flying bridge.  The white, 31-foot boat had twin Mercruiser 300 hp engines.  The V.I.N. number is 3121641B.  The boat is registered in Hull, Quebec.
