Shelley’s disappearance came to the attention of the Ontario Provincial Police on July 23, 2010. On that date, police received a call from an employee at the Ontario Disability Support Program. Police were told that Shelley’s cheques were returned uncashed for a period of 12 months.

Police went to Shelley’s home on Lang Street in Cobalt but could not locate her. Shelley was last seen in the Haileybury and Cobalt areas sometime during the summer of 2009.

Shelley has ties to both Timmins and Schumacher. She has lived in these areas for the majority of her life.
