At the time of his disappearance, Philippe was a resident at The North Bay Psychiatric Hospital. His family was not notified of his disappearance until approximately one month later.

Philippe was reported missing to the Widdifield Police.  Police did receive a tip from someone who gave a ride to a male who matched Philippe’s description.  According  to the witness, Philippe may have been in the Sudbury area of Falconbridge.   The hitchhiker was dropped off at the junction of Highways 17 and 11, south of North Bay.

When the Widdifield Police was annexed to the North Bay Police Department in 1968.
