Additional Information :

Although Walter was a resident of Charlton, Ontario, he was passing through North Bay with two family members.  They had stopped at the Highwayman Restaurant, located at 3001 Highway 11 North, for gas and to make repairs to their vehicle before continuing on.

According to reports, Walter became agitated either due to the length of time the repairs were taking or due to the fact that his keys were taken away by a family member.  Following a confrontation with his family, Walter set off walking and hitchhiking toward the city of North Bay.
