The remains of this unidentified male were recovered from Michipicoten Harbour area of Lake Superior near Wawa. His estimated date of death is 30 to 90 days prior to discovery. The only piece of clothing found was a single black dress sock on one foot. No other items of clothing or personal items were located.

A frayed yellow nylon rope was found tied around the man’s waist. The cause of death was determined to be drowning.

His post-mortem weight was recorded as being 165 lbs; however, this measurement may not represent his actual living weight due to post-mortem changes noted at autopsy.

Michipicoten Harbour is located approximately 8 km (5 miles) from Wawa.

There is the possibility that this man may have entered Lake Superior from Minnesota or Wisconsin and been carried by an easterly current.
